The reader is the live panel on the guest screen and the capture screen. It reads the dyno over USB (Web Serial, in Chrome/Edge) and runs the measurement math in your browser.
Controls
- Connect device — opens the browser's serial-port picker. Try demo streams simulated data so you can rehearse hardware-free.
- mph / km·h toggle, and Reset peak to clear the captured peaks.
The readout
- Averaged chair speed (large) and the left & right roller speeds.
- Peak — the highest speed captured during a run; this is what's adjudicated.
- Balance / steering gauge — the needle shows left–right imbalance; centered is balanced; the shaded wedge is the tolerance band.
Calibration constants
Expand Calibration constants to see max speed (the pass ceiling for the standalone reader), min speed (noise floor), tolerance (balance band), drum diameter, counts-per-rev and conversion factors.
- Derive → computes the conversion factor from drum diameter + counts-per-rev; Reset to defaults restores.
- In the referee workflow the Machine record's calibration is authoritative (set it under org setup); on the guest screen your tweaks persist on that device.
The right roller's counts-per-rev is negative by design — the sign selects direction so forward reads positive on both wheels.
